Purpose:

This programme is designed for educators and school management staff who are concerned about learners experiencing barriers to learning and to introduce them to specific barriers as well as exploring and developing practical school-based interventions for teachers, learners and families. Theoretical and practical issues as well as policy will be debated, including case studies of schools within the South African context with a view to:

  • Understanding the learner with barriers.
  • Identifying challenges experienced with learners with barriers in their own professional contexts.
  • Developing practical school-based interventions to support these learners.
  • Reflect on their professional learning about teaching learners with learning barriers in the schooling context.
